TAYLOR STEELE
Taylor Steele (SHS Class of 2011). Champion. Taylor excelled on the track, on the
cross-country courses, and in the classroom. In 2009, Taylor was the top non-
senior at the State Cross Country Championships, finishing eighth overall. He
then finished fourth overall at the 2010 State Championships and was named team
MVP and a team captain. On the track, Taylor placed second in the 1500 meters
and third in the 3000 meters at the 2010 State Track and Field Championships.
Taylor concluded his career by finishing third in the 1500 meters and was the
first Outlaw distance runner to be a state champion by winning the 3000 meters at
the 2011 Oregon State Track and Field Championships. For his efforts on and off
the field, Taylor was a team captain and named team MVP. Taylor finished his SHS
career with the school record in the 3000 meters, second rank in the 1500 meters,
and seventh rank in the 800 meters. He also was an honor roll student, worked on
the yearbook, and was a Mr. SHS candidate. Taylor continued his stellar track and
cross-country career at Whitworth University (Spokane, WA), placing twentieth at
the West Regional Cross-Country meet in 2014. Taylor has since used his business
management degree to expand his mortgage industry career.
